If you have made it this far into my website or came here via my Instagram, Facebook, or word of mouth you are most likely familiar with my moto "Progression through passion".
But why passion? Why not Progression through hard work, or determination, or consistency.
All valid arguments, and they all have their respective places within my coaching and programming style. BUT, passion is what drives me. What gets me up at 5 AM every morning, what gets me through the days when I don't have a minute to myself, or when i've gone all day with out a bite to eat.
Passion comes in all shapes and forms. And for the most part it certainly isn't pretty. Often we equate passion with love and joy. But passion is, in my experience, quite the contrary. Passion for us fitness enthusiasts and hard workers is the gritty rusted old barbell in the back of the gym, the last mile in a race, the last step up the mountain....the pain, the suffering, the hurt, the little rock stuck in your shoe, the inescapable agony.
A picture less painted by those who illustrate passion. But it is here in these moments of suffering that passion is truly found.
I will be giving a webinar in the next month on hard-work. "Hard work as a metric for success: Quantifying hard work" My intentions with this is to subtly unravel the surface layers of why we need to displace classic metrics of scale numbers and bar weights for anthropocentric metrics of "did i complete my task"..."did I give my 100%"
If we stray from conventional metrics and ways of thinking and focus on our sole passion and drive we will see the change we see in ourselves.
Passion outweighs the darkness it is found in. Find your suffering and make it your friend.
